Appointing an independent External Member to your Internal Committee isn't a formality it's one of the strict requirements under the POSH Act, 2013. Without a valid External Member, an Internal Committee can be legally deficient, and any inquiry it conducts open to challenge.
At TSA, we provide External Member services built on litigation experience, not generalist HR advisory because if an inquiry is ever contested, the quality of that record is what matters.
What Is a POSH External Member?
A POSH External Member is an independent individual appointed to the Internal Committee under the POSH Act, 2013 someone with no employment relationship to the organisation, who brings familiarity with sexual harassment law and workplace issues.
The External Member's role is to bring an outside, unbiased perspective keeping the process free of internal pressure or influence, and making the inquiry visibly fair, not just technically compliant.
